Silverthorn Wines is one of the few producers who have dedicated themselves exclusively to the production of this elegant wine.
After successful viticulture work at Moreson in Franschoek, De Wetshof in Robertson and Graham Beck Wines in Robertson, John joined Steenberg in 2001 as a cellar master and in 2007 took on additional responsibility as managing director. Silverthorn's growth and the desire to pursue his own dreams were the determining factors that caused John to step down from Steenberg in June 2017. Now it's about the planning and preparation of the development of the Silverthorn Wines house. The Silverthorn Farm is currently being re-zoned, from agriculture to industry, and if everything goes according to plan, we will start building the Silverthorn Cellar in early 2019. John is excitedly looking forward to the 2020 vintage, which will be the first vintage on the Silverthorn Farm.
